Progressive bone loss remains one of the greatest challenges in hip revision arthroplasty, particularly when the complexity increases due to extensive defects in the femur and acetabulum. Traditional classifications, such as Paprosky’s, and the phenomenon of pelvic discontinuity, highlight the increasing difficulty in ensuring stable fixation. Against this backdrop, this case-based discussion focuses on modern approaches to both femoral and acetabular reconstruction. Drawing on numerous clinical examples, current strategies are presented to achieve successful outcomes even in cases of severe bone loss.

The new format of AE/GAS – “AE meets international” – looks beyond national borders. We aim to exchange ideas with international experts and learn from one another. We look forward to this valuable exchange with colleagues from the UK and to welcoming many of you virtually to this event.
